Triangulation Methods
There are three main ways the tracker will communicate its location to the server. Each method uses different amounts of battery life.
1) The tracker will copy its location of the nearest Bluetooth. This uses the least amount of battery.
2) If there is no Bluetooth nearby, the tracker will scan for 3 different points of Wi-Fi to calculate its position, taking the address linked to the wifi box.
3) If the tracker is unable to connect to Bluetooth or scan points of Wi-Fi, then it will locate itself by calculating a GPS position using GPS satellites.
Faraday cage
Each of these methods relies on radio waves successfully being sent to the server. If the antenna is facing metal, the location of the tracker will not be communicated. The electromagnetic signal will be stuck in a faraday cage.
Examples of what can obstruct signal:
Is the tracker in a vehicle? If the tracker is in the trunk, glovebox, or between the backseats, the signal will not be able to transmit its signal successfully. Try placing the tracker underneath the passenger seat with the Invoxia logo facing upwards towards the sky. Another option can be in the back pocket of the driver’s seat, with the Invoxia logo facing the rearview window.
Is the tracker on a motorbike? If the tracker is in a metal tube, or in the saddle of the bike in contact with metal, this will completely obstruct the signal. The best place would be in the saddle of the bike with the Invoxia logo facing upwards towards the sky.
