Your tracker may sometimes take a while to update its position. There can be several reasons for this.
Low-power networks do not allow real-time tracking
The Invoxia GPS tracker is not designed to work in real time like your smartphone's GPS. It is designed for long battery life. To achieve this, it uses low-power networks.
When moving, the tracker sends its position about every 2 to 4 minutes, 5 to 8 minutes or 10 to 14 minutes, depending on the frequency chosen in the app (High, Medium or Standard) and on your network coverage. On the Sigfox network, two frequencies are available: 5 to 8 minutes or 10 to 14 minutes. When stationary, the tracker sends one position every 4 hours.
You can change the tracking frequency in the tracker settings, in the Invoxia GPS app.
Speed can prevent the position from being updated
When you drive at high speed, the tracker keeps transmitting, but it may move too fast for the antennas to pick up and relay every message. On some trips, on motorways for example, you may therefore see a straight line between the starting point and the arrival point.
In case of theft, we consider long-term tracking and the arrival point more important than the details of the route taken.
